Grandmaster Dr. Philip Chenique first came to the world of Martial Arts at the age of seven,  beginning with the study of Judo at the Y.M.C.A. in New York. He also undertook the study of Karate  and Ken-Jitsu. By age thirteen, young Chenique was studying Take-No-Uchi Kogen-Ryu Atemi  Jujitsu with Sensei Richard Adams. Later, at age twenty, he studied Shotokan Karate under the  guidance of Shihan Barry Deutsch. Traveling with his father, a military Green Beret gave him the opportunity to gain exposure to various  types of Martial Arts across the United States and around Europe. It was this exposure of different  styles in fighting that gave Chenique the insight to the principles of combat, including the offensive  and defensive aspects. Chenique soon became a student of Dr. Moses Powell (founder of Sanuces Ryu-Jujitsu), Dr. Powell's  teacher Master Florendo Visitacion, and many other Grandmasters. In 1975, after attaining the rank  of Shihan, Chenique established his own form of Jujitsu "Atemi-Ryu Jujitsu."  Grandmaster Chenique  has been cited in the "Who's Who in Karate" and in 1994, Chenique received the honor of being  inducted to the "Martial Arts Hall of Fame". Dr. Chenique has taught countless seminars at numerous  universities, hospitals, governmental agencies, and private & public corporations. Chenique is  licensed in and a member of rape prevention, and International Police Tactical training. Along with  being a member of numerous community and Martial Arts Associations, Chenique has appeared on  various local television channels, HBO and Telemundo. Grandmaster Dr. Chenique has dedicated the majority of his life to the Martial Arts community, to  which he has achieved an endless number of ranks, certificates, licenses, and special recognitions.  In spite of all them, there is one priceless accomplishment, and that is the rank of Doctorate in  Sanuces Ryu Jujitsu, under the direct guidance of Grandmaster Dr. Moses Powell.
